Michael B. Jordan is no stranger to superhero flicks. The 34-year-old actor has starred as supervillain Erik Killmonger in Black Panther and the Human Torch in Fantastic Four. Now, Jordan is working on a totally new superhero project from behind-the-scenes, but we're hoping he might make an appearance on-screen as well.

In a story broken by Collider , it was revealed that the Just Mercy actor is working with his production company Outlier Society to produce a brand-new Black Superman project for HBO Max. The work, which is being rumored as a limited series, will focus on Val-Zod, a Kryptonian character who took over the role of Superman in the Earth 2 Vol 1 #19 issue in 2014.

In the article from Collider , they reported that the project is being written as “a limited series that Jordan will produce and possibly even star in, though he has yet to officially commit on the latter front.” If Jordan is going to act in the series, we have to wonder if he might take on the lead role of Val-Zod himself (and you certainly won't see us do any complaining).

However, there is another project already in the works that is set to star a Black Superman. This Warner Bros. film, which will feature a screenplay by Ta-Nehisi Coates and production by J.J. Abrams, was rumored to star Jordan. But during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter , the actor confirmed that he would not be filling the role. “I’m flattered that people have me in that conversation,” he said. “It’s definitely a compliment, but I’m just watching on this one.”

While it's unclear whether Jordan already had this project on the back-burner when he made that comment, we'll just have to see if he ends up in front of the camera on his new action-packed series.
