Mariah Carey's iconic story could be headed for the screen. The music legend is reportedly considering an adaptation of her bestselling memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, which she just published this fall. "Me, and a secret friend of mine, are talking about that and what it would look like," she told The Hollywood Reporter of a possible film or limited series, hinting that she might want to direct the project herself.

"People have also been reaching out to me about it, … people I haven’t heard from in years saying this has to be a series or a movie or whatever it’s going to be," Carey added, though it's currently unclear who she might be working with for the adaptation. "These things take a long time, so it's going to be what it is, but I believe in it. I'm really looking forward to it even just as a viewer, seeing these stories come to life."

This wouldn't be the first time the singer has taken to the screen, THR points out. Carey previously starred in 2001's Glitter, which was loosely based on her own rise to fame. And most recently, she sealed in her title as Queen of Christmas with her own holiday special on Apple TV+.

The Meaning of Mariah Carey tells the highs and lows of the singer's extraordinary life and journey to stardom, including her affair with Derek Jeter during her marriage to Tommy Mottola, grappling with the spotlight, and even having a secret '90s alternative album. Time will tell if Mimi will ultimately bring these events from the page to the screen.
