I absolutely love eating lobster in the summertime. Buttery lobster rolls, seafood boils, creamy mac and cheese, even a lobster bisque is comforting despite the blazing hot summer sun. Nevertheless, while I love eating lobster, I absolutely detest having to crack the shell. Having grown up in a seafood-focused small town, I learned plenty of times how to crack open a lobster. Yet my shell-cracking skills never truly lived up to the people around me. So when I find a solution where I can enjoy lobster without having to do all the work, I hop on it, like Costco’s new box of shell-less naked lobster meat.

This box of Naked Lobster comes with meat from two 6.5-ounce lobsters straight from the Atlantic Ocean. These lobsters are uncooked and packaged fresh, and can be cooked immediately right from the package, even while they are frozen. Each lobster comes with two pellets of herb butter to cook in, making it even easier to cook a tasty lobster at home. Plus, with the shells already removed, these lobsters are perfect for cooking up any of your favorite lobster recipes at home, like lobster mac and cheese, lobster salad, creamy seafood lasagna with lobster, or brown butter lobster rolls.

Lobster is a pricey protein to buy already, yet Costco offers up a deal that is worth noting: One box of Naked Lobster is sold at $39.99, pricing each lobster at around $20 each. This is the same exact price as Costco’s lobster roll kits, yet there is likely more meat coming from the Naked Lobster box. Needless to say, if you have some lobster recipes you’re dying to try this summer, we have a feeling you’re going to want to take Costco up on this deal.

While Costco customers are a bit skeptical by the look of this box (those lobsters still look alive), there is nothing to worry about. Each box of Naked Lobster simply provides the meat and butter needed for a tasty weeknight meal, without having to crack the shells yourself. Thank you, Costco, for saving me from my misery!
