Costco Just Brought Back a Fan-Favorite Bakery Item, and Shoppers Are Freaking Out

Is there anything more magical than the Costco bakery department? Besides the fact that you can get lost in the sweet aroma of a multitude of baked treats, Costco’s baked goods selection is ever-changing, which means there's always a sweet new discovery to be made.

We’ve all seen their immaculate Cinnamon Raisin Bread – and let's not forget the fan-favorite Key Lime Pie that rang in the summer earlier this year. Recently, another popular item is making its long-awaited return to the bakery department: the beloved Costco cherry danish.

The fan-favorite danish used to be a staple at the warehouse club, according to a Reddit user who posted about the return of the fabled treat, but has disappeared from the bakery section in recent months. “I was happy to find cherry danish at my local Costco today,” wrote the happy shopper.“I haven't seen it in ages.”

Some fans of the breakfast pastry voiced their concerns about how Costco is packaging and selling the danish. With four per container, the deal is being marketed as “buy two for one,” but it also means some customers are taking home more danishes than they'd like. Luckily, some helpful commenters offered a solution for those leftover pastries.

“Do these or any of the pastries freeze well? I freeze croissants but always think the filling will change texture,” commented one cautions customer, “I love danishes, I just can’t eat 8 of them before they’d go bad.”

“Stuff like this freezes exceptionally well,” said another commenter. “You'll probably get a slight variation in the puff part, compared to something that just came out of the oven and cooled down to room temperature," — meaning less crunch — “but the flavor won't get old.”

If this sweet treat hits your personal flavor button then you might want to take a trip to your local Costco for a taste. And while the price of the Cherry Danish may not be clear at the moment, other similar danishes have retailed at $11.99 for two packs of four. So if you’re willing to take home some extras, your mornings will soon be a lot sweeter.
