Costco Just Announced a New Way to Shop—No Membership Required

Shopping at Costco just got easier–order bulk buys for delivery right to your door via Uber Eats.

Attention Costco shoppers! If you love the idea of having your favorite Kirkland Signature products (um, hello, organic dark truffle figs!) delivered right to your doorstep, there's a new option available to you. Costco doesn't offer delivery directly, but they have been working with Instacart for the last four years to help customers get groceries and household goods. And Uber Eats has just announced a new partnership with the beloved warehouse club.

Uber drivers should be careful, though. If you're a Costco shopper, you know that you never leave with only the items you walked in for. As one Reddit user hilariously quipped, "Just wait till some unsuspecting Uber Eats driver walks in to pick up a hot dog combo order and walks out with a gazebo!" In all seriousness, though, one of the reasons people experience Costco anxiety is having to brave the crowds. With this latest partnership, members can indulge in those mouthwatering rotisserie chickens, anti-inflammatory snacks and affordable wines with just a few quick taps. Here’s what to know.

Do I Have to Be a Member to Shop at Costco with Uber Eats?

If you're looking for a fourth hack to add to the list of ways to shop at Costco without a membership, this is it. You don't need a Costco membership to enjoy this service, but membership does have its perks. A quick scan of the prices when not logged in with my Costco membership showed the prices were definitely higher. If you are a Costco member, you'll receive an additional discount on your orders and get 20% off an annual Uber One membership. Uber One is a subscription service that offers savings on rides and orders, like free delivery and additional savings with select partners.

Which Locations Offer This Partnership?

Beryl Sanders, Uber's director of grocery and retail partnerships, shared at their Go-Get 2024 presentation that the service is currently available in select locations across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Japan, with more cities to come. This expansion means that more and more customers will have the convenience of Costco products delivered to their doorstep.

The Bottom Line

While carrying those massive Costco hauls to your car can be chalked up to a great workout, the heavy lifting can also be a deterrent to many. With this new partnership, customers can sit back, relax and let the Uber Eats driver handle the load. So, if you're looking for an effortless, almost hands-off way to stock up on bulk essentials, the new Uber Eats partnership could be the solution you've been waiting for.
