In addition to its $1.50 hot dogs and $5 rotisserie chickens, Costco warehouse stores are known for great deals. The more than 129 million members, according to the latest Costco reports, flock to the 871 locations worldwide, to stock up on everything from appliances to industrial-sized packages of paper products, fresh and frozen food galore, and discounted wine and spirits. However, now and then, Costco stocks a seriously spectacular deal on a big-ticket item. And this week, it can be found in the wine aisle.

One of the latest surprise finds made waves in the subreddit r/Costco_alcohol after Redditor dynamyte43 posted a photo taken in the Newark, California Costco with the caption, "Had to make sure I was seeing correctly."

What they were referring to was the $3,699.99 price tag next to the bottle of Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. While that sounds like several rent or mortgage payments to most of us (and the same amount could score you 2,466 hot dogs at the food court or 739 rotisserie chickens to share with families across town), it's actually a "bargain price," and a "screaming deal," commenters on Reddit confirm.

Screaming Eagle has amassed a cult-like following for its low production numbers of highly-rated Cabernet Sauvignons. The following is so large that bottles are available for purchase on Screaming Eagle's website only after hopping on the waitlist. The brand itself says it "cannot give you a firm timeframe" for how long the wait list extends, but fans claim that they were in purchase purgatory on that list for anywhere for over a decade before being able to shop. Then, even after making it to the front of the line, the Oakville, California-based winery only ships to certain states, so having the chance to snap up a bottle today at Costco seems like a pretty sweet deal.

For reference, the average price of a 2018 Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon is clocking in at around $4,720, according to Wine Searcher. And according to SFGate, the Costco stores in Newark, Redwood City, Foster City, Santa Clara, Danville, Novato, and San Jose, California, still have bottles in stock.

If you'd prefer something a little more budget-friendly, each of our 41 Cabernet Sauvignons worth splurging on can be yours for less than $150. Even better: These 9 stellar Cabernet Sauvignons are under $20. We'll raise a glass to that!
