CosMc’s Now Has a Second Location
Just a few months after its debut in Illinois, CosMc’s, McDonald’s alien-inspired restaurant concept, has landed in Dallas. The second CosMc’s will feature the same beverage-forward menu as the first, and it’s one of several locations the brand plans to open in Texas in the near future, Restaurant Dive reports.
Unique to the Dallas location, however, are two new beverages: the Beach Protein Frappe and the Melon Herb Chiller. Per the CosMc’s website, the former contains a blend of banana flavor and “protein-packed whipped indulgence”; the drink can be customized just as the other beverages on CosMc’s menu, and it sells for $5.99 for a medium. The latter of the two drinks contains lemonade with watermelon and mint flavors and “an invigorating arctic kick.”

Other than these two drinks, the menu at the Dallas location remains very much the same as the first CosMc’s in Bolingbrook, Illinois. CosMc’s offers multiple categories of beverages (Frappes, Slushes, Brews, Iced Teas, Lemonades, etc.) as well as sandwiches, small bites, baked goods, soft serve ice cream, and items “From the McDonald’s Universe,” including the Egg McMuffin, Sausage McMuffin with Egg, and Bacon McMuffin with Egg. Interestingly, you won’t find McDonald’s famous French fries on this menu; Nation’s Restaurant News notes that the small-format restaurant kitchen does not require a fryer.
CosMc’s has no dining room and its locations are designed to be significantly smaller than traditional McDonald’s restaurants. Where a typical McDonald’s is between 4,000 and 5,000 square feet, a CosMc’s is only around 2,800. The restaurants prominently feature four drive-thru lanes, each with digital menu boards, and multiple pickup windows that are all part of making the concept a convenient on-the-go option for customers.
Given that CosMc’s is supposed to be McDonald’s futuristic restaurant offshoot, it’s a little ironic that neither of the two CosMc’s locations offers online ordering just yet. On the website, online ordering is listed as “coming soon” for both locations. You cannot order CosMc’s food through the McDonald’s app.
Despite the delays with mobile ordering, it seems McDonald’s has no intention of slowing down its rollout of the CosMc’s concept. Another nine locations are currently in development in Texas alone.
When the Illinois location opened, the initial buzz surrounding CosMc’s led to a 90-minute wait time for our Takeout crew. However, it seems the company learned its lesson: Eater Dallas reports that wait times for this opening were not nearly as long, and the restaurant had security guards stationed outside to help guide cars. Even the Bolingbrook location is reportedly a lot calmer these days, now that the novelty has worn off a bit.
