As our favorite murderous animatronic bears hit the big screen, fan service is a must and the producers have not let us down. If you’ve been reading the rumors, you’ll want to know who is Coryxkenshin in FNAF, the highly anticipated adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s.

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a popular indie horror game series created by Scott Cawthon. The series is known for its unique gameplay and creepy atmosphere, as the main premise of the games is that the player takes on the role of a security guard who must survive five nights at a haunted and malfunctioning pizzeria. The animatronic characters at the pizzeria come to life at night and try to attack the player.

FNAF, as it’s often abbreviated, has been praised for its unique approach to horror and its ability to create tension and fear through simple but effective gameplay mechanics. Fans were therefore thrilled to see a film adaptation in the works, first announced in 2015 and finding its way to cinemas on October 26, 2023. Similar to the game, the film follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.

While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through. The film stars Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), Elizabeth Lail (You, Mack & Rita), Piper Rubio (Holly & Ivy, Unstable), Kat Conner Sterling (We Have a Ghost, 9-1-1), with Mary Stuart Masterson (Blindspot, Fried Green Tomatoes) and Matthew Lillard (Good Girls, Scream). But you came here to find out who’s Coryxkenshin in FNAF and we have the info.

Who’s Coryxkenshin in FNAF? Out of all the YouTuber cameos in the film, fans were most excited to see CoryxKenshin, who plays the role of a cab driver in two crucial scenes. One he sits in his taxi outside the pizza restaurant as he picks up Abby Schmidt (Piper Rubio). Where to?” he asks, before peering into his rear-view mirror and seeing Golden Freddy, the overarching antagonist. “Why do I always get the weirdos?” he asks before the screen cuts to black.

The reason CoryxKenshin, whose real name is Cory DeVante Williams, is a delightful cameo is that much of his YouTube success has been off the back of Five Nights at Freddy’s playthroughs. Other popular YouTubers, like 8-Bit Ryan, Baz, Razzbowski, FusionZGamer, and Dawko have all been spotted on the ‘Employee of the Month’ board.

The Five Nights at Freddy’s video game series featured a cast of animatronic characters, including Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Bunny, Chica the Chicken, Foxy the Pirate, and others. These characters become increasingly active and aggressive as the nights progress.

Film adaptations of video games have a checkered history which means fans have been nothing short of trepidatious. Rest assured, though, there’s a lot of love and respect for the OG material. Emma Tammi, the director of Five Nights at Freddy’s, told the New York Times she had worked closely with the game’s creator Scott Cawthon on the movie’s shape and direction; he is also credited as a screenwriter. “We would not be releasing this film if Scott was not satisfied,” Tammi said. “This goes back to how passionately he feels and how protective he is of the fan base. He would not let something out into the world that he didn’t put his stamp of approval on. I wouldn’t be here today without his seal of approval.”

For the film, producers enlisted Jim Henson’s Creature Shop to recreate the animatronics physically. “There’s so much lore and the world, once again, it’s so rich that we really were able to pull from his library, and we made sure that anything that we were looking at was something that was sent from him that was an official license by him,” Project Supervisor and Lead Designer, Robert Bennett told Bloody Disgusting. “But in the trailer, there’s the mask with all the saws and everything, and that’s a new design, and it was fun just to go in there and figure out where they’re going to be and what’s going to look the most menacing.”

He continued to explain how passionate the crew was to do the source material justice. “I know that everyone in the production tried to stay as true to the game as they possibly could in every facet, from the sets to costumes to everything,” he said. “I can’t really say anything without giving anything away, but everyone had the fans in mind while we were doing this project, so I think they’re going to love it.”

One of the only in-depth interviews Cawthon has given is with the popular FNaF YouTuber Lewis Dawkins in 2018, who posts under the username Dawko. “I don’t always get things just right,” he said. “I’ve been writing this script. It doesn’t mean the movie’s going to be perfect. But I hope everybody at least believes that my No. 1 goal is to make sure that I don’t let anybody down,” he continued. “A lot of people enjoy these characters and these games, and that means the world to me.”
