Corn maze season is upon us. Here's where you can try your luck at fall mazes in Delaware

With the official start of fall around the corner, it’s time to plan your autumnal adventures.

While there’s plenty of fall fun to be had around Delaware, from festivals to Halloween events, one of the simplest yet most traditional activities is to tackle a corn maze.

Coming in all shapes and sizes, and some with a surprising level of difficulty, corn mazes offer something enjoyable for people of all ages.

Where are corn mazes in Delaware?

Delaware has a handful scattered around the state waiting for visitors to put their navigation skills to the test. Have some time blocked out and feeling adventurous?

Ramsey’s Farm in Brandywine Hundred is no stranger to seasonal fun.

With pick-your-own pumpkins, tractor-pulled hayrides, barnyard animals, face painting and a playground, it may sound like the farm has it all. Add in the site’s three corn mazes and you’re in for a falltastic visit.

The farm’s largest corn maze is nearly 15 acres with almost 4 miles of trails. It has a kids’ cartoon theme and features 15 stations with signs throughout that attendees need to find to get out.

The maze typically takes 90 minutes to complete and soon will have an interactive smartphone app/game to go with it. As a note, it is recommended that all guests wear study, closed-toe shoes.

The 2-acre sorghum maze is Spookly the Square Pumpkin-themed. Spookly’s story is featured throughout the maze, with over 20 signs and guideposts, and is about acceptance and anti-bullying.

For the youngsters in attendance, the farm offers a hay bale maze, where a John Deere Combine has been converted into a set of sliding boards with a prize in the center.

Ramsey’s Farm also has bonfire nights, goat yoga and private event options.

The farm opened on Saturday, Sept. 16, and operates from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends, including Friday afternoons in October, through Halloween. Night activities like the flashlight mazes, hayrides and bonfires are open from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
