CorePower Yoga Teams Up With Matthew McConaughey’s Nonprofit

CorePower Yoga is teaming up with Matthew McConaughey’s nonprofit Just Keep Livin Foundation to provide fitness education to high schoolers.

Just Keep Livin Foundation was founded by McConaughey and his wife Camila McConaughey to provide after school fitness and mindfulness programming to inner city schools — the organization currently works with 3,000 students across 43 schools and sites in the U.S.

“We have a mission of making yoga accessible and available,” said CorePower Yoga chief executive officer Niki Leondakis, noting the company previously worked with Yoga Foster, a youth-oriented yoga nonprofit. “What Just Keep Livin does is very much aligned with that.”

Through the partnership, CorePower Yoga will offer educational resources around fitness and mindfulness to Just Keep Livin Foundation teachers and students.

“We will be the Just Keep Livin [Foundation] resource for yoga as part of their curriculum, offering both mindfulness and yoga education to students at the Just Keep Livin partner high schools across the country,” Leondakis said. “Participating teachers at those schools will have access to a curated collection of CorePower Yoga on-demand classes through complimentary CorePowerat-home digital memberships that we’re providing them.”

Just Keep Livin Foundation teachers will have access to more than 300 flows, classes and meditations through the platform. Each year, CorePower will also provide a 200-hour yoga teacher training scholarship to three teachers and three graduating seniors at Just Keep Livin Foundation schools.

CorePower Yoga will also work with the organization on their annual field days, where students from several schools come together for activities nationwide. While CorePower Yoga participated in this year’s events, the company plans to expand its presence at future events.

“We’re going to be [there] in a much more amplified way hosting classes taught by our teachers, providing giveaways for students and doing other community building activities,” Leondakis said.

Similarly, CorePower Yoga teachers have shown interest in getting more involved with the schools, according to Leondakis.

“Where we have studios that are in the same markets as schools, we will be having teachers go to the schools and teach classes as well,” she said.

In an effort to highlight Just Keep Livin Foundation, CorePower Yoga will work with their team to create additional content. For example, CorePower Yoga will be sharing an interview with Camila McConaughey on their blog site to spread awareness on Just Keep Livin Foundation’s work.
