#CopyThat: Selena Gomez’s Gold Smoky Eye

If you’re one of the lucky concertgoers to snag tickets to Selena Gomez’s Revival tour, you know that the hot young star’s show is full of sparkly bodysuits, sexy hair extensions, and smoking-hot dance moves. And like her fans, we were especially rendered speechless by Gomez’s gold smoky eye.

Eager to try our hand at re-creating Gomez’s glamorous look, we asked makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes to share her insider tips and tricks in the video tutorial above. FYI: You’ll need your own wind machine to achieve the full diva effect.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Prep eyelids with a pearl eyeshadow base. (Hughes used the Chanel Les Ombres 204 Eyeshadow Palette.)

2. Then apply a taupe gray hue at the crease of the lids and along the lower lash line.

3. Use a small pencil brush to blend black cream eyeshadow (try By Terry Cream Eyeshadow in Ombré Blackstar #12) right along the lash line, winging out at the corners. Pro tip: Clean up any mistakes with a Q-tip moistened with makeup remover or micellar water.

4. Intensify your winged eyeliner by adding liquid liner like Charlotte Tilbury the Feline Flick on top.

5. Darken and lengthen lashes by swiping on a few coats of L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black. Be sure to get real close to the lash line!

6. Fill in any gaps or sparse hairs with a deep brown eyebrow pencil (we recommend Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz) for a not-so-harsh finish.

7. Use a wide, fluffy brush to dab on Anastasia Beverly Hills That Glow Kit in Bubbly along the upper cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, and the Cupid’s bow.

8. For a dramatic eye makeup look, apply Ardell Demi Wispies false eyelashes. Tweezers will help you to maintain placement when carefully putting the strip lashes atop your own natural set.

9. Apply a peach lip color like Butter London Plush Rush Lipstick in Free before adding Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Venus Lipstick on top.

10. Sweep bronzer over your face and neck, and complete your makeup look with a few spritzes of MAC Prep + Prime Fix setting spray.
