#CopyThat: Demi Lovato's Shimmering Eye

Demi Lovato has been giving us all kinds of #beautygoals during her “Future Now” tour with co-headliner Nick Jonas. From her short, messy bob and jet-black manicure to her curvalicious bod, the 24-year-old’s confidence in her style and appearance really lights up the stage. And rocking a shimmering eye doesn’t hurt either!

Yahoo Beauty tapped makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes for a “Copy That” video inspired by the gleaming eye look Lovato has worn while on tour. Learn the tricks to layering dark and glittery shadows in the tutorial above, and be sure to read all the steps listed below.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Apply cream concealer (Hughes used Charlotte Tilbury The Retoucher Conceal & Treat Stick) to your eyelids to provide a smooth and even base for eyeshadow. Use any excess product to clean up around brows.

2. Use a small brush to apply a deep brown shadow (try Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette) to lids and along the lower lash line. Place black shadow (we recommend Chanel 106 Fleur de Pierre Long Wear Luminous Matte Eyeshadow) on top, making sure to blend colors.

3. Take a slate grey eyeliner like the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen and add along the waterline. This helps to really make eyes appear brighter. Smudge with a flat brush to achieve a truly smoky look.

4. Sweep black metallic eyeshadow (such as L’Oréal Paris Infallible Eyeshadow in Eternal Black) on eyelids and along lower lash line.

5. Gently press Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in Zodiac (a green glitter shadow) into the center of eyelids. You’ll start to see the other colors come through the shimmer beautifully.

6. Coat upper and lower lashes with Make Up For Ever Excessive Lash Mascara. Then add individual lashes (we prefer Ever EZ Trio Lashes by Kiss) to the top, focusing on the outer corners and middle section.

7. Add warmth to skin with Marc Jacobs Beauty Air Blush Soft Glow Duo in lines & Last Night and Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in Peach Tart.

8. To complete look, spritz face with MAC Prep + Prime Fix makeup setting spray.
