Copper Mountain, CO Extends Ski Season Indefinitely

Officials at Copper Mountain in Colorado asked their audience if they were ready for the season to end. Because, as they put it in their Instagram post this morning, neither are they.

Copper Mountain announced that they will be extending their winter season into May for the second year in a row for as long as conditions allow. "Thanks to our elevation and slope aspects, we’ve been able to retain a solid snowpack into the late season." See below.

After April 28,  American Eagle, Excelerator, Super Bee, & Storm King lifts will run, along with the associated terrain being open. Beginner terrain will be available in Green Acres. The superpipe will remain open, plus a hike park in the base area.

Guest Services, retail and rentals will operate exclusively out of Center Village. Guests can enjoy Jack’s and Jack’s Bar for food and beverage options.

Dustin Lyman, president and general manager of Copper Mountain said, “thanks to our high elevation, excellent snowpack and expert staff, we have an opportunity to keep the ski season going. Copper's distinct advantages enable us to deliver an exceptional late-season experience, and we're excited to offer skiing into May, for as long as conditions allow.”

Copper Mountain’s annual closing weekend celebration, Sunsation, will continue to be held on April 27-28. Featuring an array of funk headliners and local talent to open, Sunsation will offer free live music in Copper’s Center Village in Eagle’s Landing.

On April 27th, Brass Attack will kick off the weekend’s performances at 3 p.m. followed by Ripe at 5 p.m.

On April 28, Beau Thomas Band will perform at 3 p.m. and The Main Squeeze will close out the weekend events starting at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Sunsation festivities continue with Slush Rush on April 27th, the team relay event that debuted last year. Skiers and riders alike are welcome to join in teams of three to compete.

The venue will consist of a Subaru Superpipe Slalom. The first competitor will navigate around gates set in the resort’s 22' Superpipe walls, a Nokian Tyres Cross Course, the second team member will zoom around banked turns while holding a full mug of Gatorade, and the last leg of the course will consist of a YETI Rails & Pond Skim, where the final competitor will be tasked with showing off a rail slide, a trick on a medium size jump, finishing the course across an ice-cold pond skim.

Guests will be able to view the event from Odell Overlook deck set at the base of the pipe in Copper’s Center Village. Registration and more details are available at CopperColorado.com.

In addition to Copper’s Sunsation weekend celebration, the resort is hosting a variety of other spring activations.

On Thursday, April 18, Copper will host a Lleky Hot Laps event, inviting women to join in a community park meetup in Peace Park. A lift ticket is required, and all ability levels are encouraged to attend.

Copper Live takes place on Saturday April 20 and along with the final uphill race of the Mammut Uphill Race Series. The Copper Cup will start at 4:30 p.m. from Center Village. Awards and an after-party will be held immediately following the event with Mammut raffle, beer tokens and pizza. Registration closes at 4 p.m. on April 19.

If spring skiing is your thing, this likely put a smile on your face. With no end in sight, Copper is going strong, and skiers don't even have to count their days in-bounds... yet.
