‘Cool’ President Obama Wears $485 Sunglasses

They say cool kids wear shades.

Yesterday, President Obama attended a baseball game with his family and Cuban President Raúl Castro, opting for a casual look in a crisp white shirt and khaki pants — in stark contrast to the rest of his family, all wearing vibrant colors and patterns. But we’ve got to hand it to Obama, who played up the accessories with his usual snazzy watch — and some stylish sunglasses that may set you back a few pennies.

At the baseball outing — the first MLB exhibition game to be played in Cuba in nearly 20 years — Obama didn’t take off his Oliver Peoples sunglasses once, not even for interviewers. And we don’t blame him — at $485 a pop, those glasses are going nowhere.

Steep price tag aside, Obama looked great in his sunnies: The boxy acetate frames fit his face perfectly, and there was no flashy logo, which made for a stylish but not-too-trendy look. Maybe, finally, Obama’s putting in effort to up his style (he was long overdue for an eyewear upgrade) since ditching his previous pair — grandpa-style Ray-Bans — in 2015.
