Manspreading has gone mainstream.

With every new season comes a new Instagram pose trend. Have you noticed almost every influencer in your social media feed will post a photo casually posing the same way?

First, we had the had “fish gape.” Then we had “finger mouthing,” then came the “Bambi.” Now there’s a new pose celebrities and social media influencers are re-creating and it’s very similar to manspreading. We called it womanspreading already. And we’re now convinced it’s not going anywhere soon.

In the pose, the celebrity in question casually spreads her legs to the max. The look has gained a notorious reputation from hyper-masculine men on subway cars. Just last month, a woman was punched in the face when she asked a man on the subway to stop manspreading. Major cities like Madrid and New York are asking men to stop with the dreaded pose. And women have been retaking the pose for their Instagram aesthetic.

Model Bella Hadid has done the pose a number of times over the past couple of months.

But the quintessential female manspreader is, without a doubt, Rihanna. The Bajan pop star has been posing like this for months now.
