Cool for Fall: YouTuber Amanda Steele’s New Sunglasses Collab

Sunglasses may make you think of sunny vacations and warm days at the beach, but that doesn’t mean you should count them out as one of this season’s must-have accessories.

Case in point: YouTube star and social media maven Amanda Steele’s new collaboration with sunglasses brand Quay Australia. According to Southern California native Steele, 16, the two style-collection (which includes The Muse—a mirrored aviator, and The Envy—a chunky, Wayfarer-esque style) was created with fall’s biggest trends in mind.

“For both frames, I knew I wanted a dark and light color,” explains Steele, of the glasses’ multiple colorways. “I chose black for the Envy frames, because black is a wardrobe staple. It goes with everything. Nude was also another color I chose because I didn’t see it anywhere and I thought it would look great with fall trends.”

She continues, “The Muse frames also comes in a darker and lighter frame and I wanted those colors to be a bit more dreamy – with some bluish and pinkish tones.”

Despite the fact that Steele is juggling both high school and Internet fame, she says she was extremely involved in the design process with Quay. “I sent through multiple mood boards of what I was currently liking and drawing inspiration from, whether it was from photos, art, surrounding colors,” she says. “I researched the current trends in sunglasses and ended up wanting to make something that I just wasn’t seeing anywhere else and of course something that I would buy and wear myself.”

She appears to have succeeded.
