Connecticut Shelter Cat Keeps Going Above and Beyond to Get Adopters to Notice Him

I know you've heard it a million times, but everyone says, 'There's a shelter pet for anyone' because it's true! Whether you're a running enthusiast, a movie buff, or even a fan of planning road trips, you will definitely find a dog, cat, or small animal who can keep up with your lifestyle. It may not be the exact pet you expected to bring home, but you can be sure that shelter staff will match you with the very best fit.

If you're looking for a kitty who loves attention, playtime, and being the only pet in the home, Penn just might be your guy. This attention-hogging kitty has been trying his hardest to get potential adopters to notice him at Connecticut's Little Guild animal rescue, but he's received zero applications since arriving at the shelter. Hopefully, that will change soon thanks to a January 17 video from his friends at the rescue.

OMG--just look at this feline acrobat! The way Penn is leaning against the door is simultaneously melting and breaking my heart, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little bit impressed with his balancing skills. Then again, I'm so curious how he got out of that position without knocking his cat bed off the table! Of course, he'd land on his feet--he's a cat, after all--but I do wish the person behind the camera had given more than just a sneak peek. So many people walk past him every day, so the least they could do is stay a while to visit.

Judging by the comments, there are plenty of people who would be willing to give this FIV-positive cat a loving home. However, his shelter is located in West Cornwall, Connecticut, and not all potential adopters are located in the Northeast. Fortunately, there are plenty of people in every area of the country who are ready to be cat owners!

Feline Immunodeficiency Virus Can Be Isolating For Cats

I wasn't surprised to see commenters gushing over this sweet shelter cat, but I was also glad to see people asking questions and informing themselves. When @kowaiwebgirl asked what Penn's illness, FIV, is, the folks at @littleguild explained that it's "a viral infection that affects cats. It causes affected animals to have a weaker immune system in comparison with non-FIV-positive cats." Now you know!

As the animal rescue explains in Penn's adoption biography, cats with feline immunodeficiency virus can live long, healthy, and happy lives. That can be a reality for Penn, too; all he needs is to find his perfect home!
