Condé Nast said Wednesday that it would cease to publish men’s magazine Details.
The December 2015/ January 2016 issue will be the magazine’s last.
Editor in chief Dan Peres and publisher Drew Schutte were let go.
Bob Sauerberg, the company’s president and incoming chief executive officer, also announced changes at Self on the business side. Glamour publisher and chief revenue officer Connie Anne Phillips will oversee Self and Glamour. As a result, Mary Murko, Self’s publisher and chief revenue officer, has been let go.
Both Self and Details have long been rumored to be under pressure at the company.
In an internal memo to staff Wednesday, Sauerberg noted that by combining Glamour and Self on the business side that it would be able to “unify” teams and “create a leading women’s advertising platform for our clients.”
Details.com will continue to operate as the company transitions it to GQStyle.com in the coming months.
In regards to Details, Sauerberg said: “We have decided to build on the success and massive overall audience of GQ as our men’s brand, and will be expanding the business through their GQ Style franchise. GQ Style, which has consistently been popular among upscale millennials and luxury advertisers alike, will significantly expand its digital presence and also increase to a quarterly print schedule.”
