Billie Eilish was first thrust into fame at the ripe age of 15 years old with her breakout hit “Ocean Eyes.” Since then, she has only been catapulted further into superstardom.

Her immense talent—which has won her seven Grammy awards and broken Spotify streaming records, among many other accolades—along with her iconic style has meant having all eyes on her at every turn. However, one thing she has shielded from the public eye, to much success, has been her relationships.

The “Happier Than Ever” hitmaker spoke about how she prefers to keep her personal matters to herself on an episode of Capital Breakfast With Roman Kemp in September 2020.

“I definitely want to keep [relationships] private. I've had relationships and kept them private, and even the ones that I've had, with the tiny amount that I've let the world see, I regret,” she said. “I think about the people that have made their relationships public, and then they break up, and it's like, 'What if it goes bad?'”

Aside from her most recent romantic involvement with Jesse Rutherford, which she showed off on social media, on the red carpet, and in interviews, she has been able to keep things largely under wraps.

Read ahead for a deep dive into Eilish’s dating history.

Jesse Ruthorford (October 2022—May 2023)

The “Lovely” songstress made an exception to her private relationship rule with The Neighborhood singer—a pairing that also stirred up controversy among fans.

They two first fueled romance rumors on October 19, 2022, when they were captured in photos published by Entertainment Tonight kissing in Los Angeles to cap off a date night—days after getting cozy on a date at Crossroads Kitchen.

A source who witnessed the couple’s outing told the outlet, “It definitely seemed like a date and they stayed there for three hours…Billie touched the back of Jesse's head for a long time, he kissed her on the cheek, and they both kissed on the lips.”

Fans didn’t have to wonder for very long, as Eilish hard launched their romance on November 1, 2022, when she posted a photo to Instagram, now deleted, of herself dressed as a baby and Rutherford dressed as an old man for Halloween. She captioned the post, now changed, “Life is craaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy.” Their costumes appeared to be a response to backlash they faced about their 11-year age gap, as Eilish was 20 and Rutherford was 31 at the time.

A few days later, the two made their red-carpet debut at the LACMA Art+Film Gala in matching Gucci sleepwear.

Eilish spoke about her romance with the “Softcore” singer in an interview with Vanity Fair, published on November 28, 2022.

“Yeah, I do [have a boyfriend now],” she told the magazine. “And it’s really cool, and I’m really excited, and I’m really happy about it. I managed to get my way to a point in my life … where I not only was known by a person that I thought was the hottest fucking fucker alive, but pulled his ass. Are you kidding me? Can we just—round of applause for me. Thank you! Jesse Rutherford, everyone! I pulled his ass—all me! I did that shit. I locked that motherfucker down.”

The two walked the red carpet for a second, and last, time as a couple on March 13, 2023, at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party. They ultimately called it quits two months later, with Eilish’s rep confirming the breakup in a statement released to Page Six on May 17.

“We can confirm Billie and Jesse did split amicably and remain good friends,” the statement read. The rep added that any rumors of infidelity are “false.”

Matthew Tyler Vorce (April 2021-May 2022)

Eilish first sparked dating rumors with the 2 Little Monsters actor after the two were seen grabbing coffee together in Santa Barbara, California, with Eilish’s pitbull, Shark. In photos published by Page Six, Eilish rests her head on Vorce’s shoulder with her arm around his waist while Vorce rubs her neck.

The pair also had a significant age gap, with Eilish being 19 and Vorce being 29 at the time.

Although the two never officially went public, Vorce appeared to confirm their split in May 2022 while addressing infidelity rumors.

“Nobody cheated on anyone. Relationships end. Simple as that. Creating rumors and LYING on the internet is dangerous,” he wrote in an Instagram Story.

Brandon Quention Adams (2018-June 2019)

Eilish and Adams, who is known by the stage name 7: AMP, and was referred to as “Q” by Eilish, started as friends before becoming romantically involved. While dating, the “What Was I Made For” singer appeared on the cover of the rapper’s album Bleaupro, which was released in April 2019.

Their coupling went unbeknownst to the public until the release of Eilish’s documentary Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry, in which she discusses their breakup.

“I just wasn't happy. I didn't want the same things he wanted, and I don't think that's fair for him,” she explained, 16-years-old at the time. “I don't think you should be in a relationship super excited about things that the other person couldn't care less about. … There was just a lack of effort.”

“I do love him, though, which made it harder. I'm not over him; I didn't find someone else,” she continued. “I didn't stop having love for him. I just spent time away from him for a little bit, and I was like, 'Wow! I'm missing so much because I'm worried about you all the time, and I don't want what you want, and you don't want what I want.' I don't want to fix him. I can't fix him. I tried.”

Adams, who was 22 at the time, was met with criticism following the movie’s release, which he addressed on social media, saying, “Sometimes people disagree and don’t want the same things as one another. It’s on you to understand there’s several points of view to a situation.”

“Anyone who knows me knows where my heart is. I stay with a smile on my face even when I’m hurting,” he added.

In response, Eilish posted to her Instagram story asking her fans “to be nice to people no matter what.”
