Commenters Show Approval For Breck's New Terrain Park Plan

Yesterday, October 20th, Breckenridge Ski Resort, Colorado, shared its new terrain park plan for this upcoming winter, an announcement that quickly proved popular amongst local freestyle skiers.

Breck delivered the news in an Instagram video featuring terrain parks manager Brendan Treffinger and day crew attendant Scooter Bowen.

Here are all the details, per Breck's Instagram caption:

"Our large features are moving just one run over to Freeway, easily lappable with the upgraded Five Chair. Our medium park is moving to a brand-new location on Lower American on Peak 9, and our small park will return to Eldorado, also on Peak 9. With a focus on progression, we can't wait to welcome you back for another season of starting small and going big! And maybe a few surprises to come, too, but you'll just have to wait and see!"

Over the years, Breck has become known for its world-class terrain park offerings.

However, last spring, users on the freestyle skiing-focused forum Newschoolers.com expressed concern that Breck might be dialing back or removing its park options as rumors swirled.

In a Newschoolers.com forum post, one user cited an interaction with a ski patroller who allegedly confirmed that Breck's terrain parks were being binned.

Based on the October 20th announcement video, those rumors were unfounded.

"We're stoked to continue fostering a positive park community and plenty of opportunities for progression here at Breck," wrote Sarah Mclear, a representative for Breck, during email correspondence with Powder.

In the comments section of the announcement, freestyle skiers rejoiced.

"Oh wow finally after dialing it back for the last 5 years."

"Bout time! Save Vail's park programs."

"No way freeways back!🥹 didn't think it would ever happen."

"Let's goooooo!!!!"

"This is so exciting!!!"
