We got the details on what went into these 5 cosplays at New York Comic Con 2023

Video Transcript

ALEXANDRA FLEMING: I didn't have time to work on it until right before Con, which is a rookie mistake.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

BRIAN GERHARDT: Today I'm currently cosplaying as Galactus.

FREJYA ROARK: I am dressed as the voice of the tempest Keyleth from Critical Roles Campaign 1: Vox Machina.

ALEXANDRA FLEMING: I am cosplaying as Jester Lavorre.

COURTNEY ARMSTRONG: I'm dressed as Kurama from Naruto.

- I am dressed today as my own spin off of Wonder Woman. I'm the fabulous Wonder Mama. I thought I'd do my own spin because I don't think I could ever fit into the real Linda Carter Wonder Woman costume.

FREJYA ROARK: This character is very important to me. I've loved her for many a years since I've gotten into the show.

COURTNEY ARMSTRONG: I really like this character, and it seemed like a fun, like, challenge, like making the horns, and like, doing something that's very frilly and just a lot of layers to it.

BRIAN GERHARDT: The costume itself is actually made from EVA foam.

FREJYA ROARK: Over the course of three months, the entire cosplay took about 500 hours to put together. Every single leaf is hand placed and everything.

ALEXANDRA FLEMING: It was a couple hundred hours. I've been working on it for a year, give or take.

COURTNEY ARMSTRONG: So my lollipop was made by my loving boyfriend. We have a deal where I do anything that involves sewing, and he makes all the physical props.

- I've had people that helped me create the costume. I do a lot of it myself, and a friend's created the headpiece for me.

ALEXANDRA FLEMING: I really like the fox motifs and sigils, especially when you're putting it into armor. So there's nine tails in different spots, and it's just a lot of fun to work with the different designs in the show.

BRIAN GERHARDT: Comic Con, I'm always excited about meeting other cosplayers that I follow throughout the year on Instagram. A lot of times, they document their cosplay building, and you see what they're doing, and you're so excited to see the finished product here this weekend.

ALEXANDRA FLEMING: It's usually a year between seeing friends that I don't normally see, so I'm really excited to see them.

- I've come all the way from Sydney, Australia. I've been to New York many times, but this is my first time at New York Comic Con. It's amazing. It's huge.

BRIAN GERHARDT: All of us love the same stuff, and we're all here together just enjoying each other's company and just having a great time.
