Comedian Sarah Silverman Gives a Heartbreaking Update After a Personal Loss

Sarah Silverman has lost a beloved member of her family.

On May 11, the celebrated comedian took to Instagram to share that her father, Donald Silverman, had passed away.

Alongside a series of family photos, the Emmy winner penned, "My best pal, Schleppy - my dad, died last night. All the sisters, and grandkids surrounded him with love and singing and very dark f--ked up jokes this final week. But ultimately, he wanted to be with his love, Janice, who we lost last Monday."

As she continued, Silverman confirmed that no Shiva would be held, and instead invited fans to donate to the Second Nurture charity.

She concluded, "He always said he was the richest man in the world because of his family, and he was."

It didn't take long for Silverman's famous friends to send her love. Community's Alison Brie commented, "I’m so sorry for your loss. Love to you and your family ❤️❤️❤️."

Director Judd Apatow added, "Sending you love ❤️❤️❤️."

Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen weighed in, "May his memory be a blessing ❤️."

Fellow comedian Chelsea Handler wrote in response, "You had the best dad. Funny, smart, kind and a human good doer. I will miss you, popsicle."

Other celebrity friends who sent their love included Kristen Bell, Billy Eichner, Olivia WildeKristen Schaal, and Ben Schwartz, among many others.

As Silverman mentioned in her update, the loss of her father comes a week after she lost her stepmother Janice. She shared on Instagram, "We laid my beautiful step-mum Janice to rest today. None of us would be us without her. And now we get to remember her every day."

Donald and Janice had married for nearly 40 years prior to their respective deaths this month.
