Comedian Kumail Nanjiani’s Twitter rant about a pantsless airplane passenger is giving us a much-needed laugh today
We don’t know if this funny, horrifying, or a strange mix of both. Actor and comedian Kumail Nanjiani tweeted about a passenger that he witnessed on his recent flight that, literally, wasn’t wearing any pants. While this is a bit disturbing, of course Nanjiani made it extremely entertaining.
The star, known best for his stand-up and his lead role on Silicon Valley, noted that the passenger casually took off his jeans and lounged around in his boxers. While we can recognize the fact that the days of dressing up in business gear for a flight are totally over, this is…well, a bit much.
Even better, Nanjiani had non-identifying photo proof.

Supposedly, this behavior went on for quite some time before the passenger was called out on it.
After 4 hours, a flight attendant finally said "Could you please put your feet down? People are walking through here." 40 second stare down.

Of course, a guy who refuses to wear pants obviously doesn’t care much for authority.

And, this is when it goes from zany to scary: the guy actually had the gall to be incredibly rude to the staff.
This guy was rude to the staff the entire time. If he didn't get the flight attendant's attention, he would slam his fist on the armrest.

But, no matter what, the pants (or, lack of pants) definitely continued to be the heart of this story.
Before boarding, he stood right at the gate 30 mins early. Wheelchairs went around him. "I can't wait to get in there & get my pants off!"

He walks off the plane. No police is waiting for him. No justice. He adjusts his belt, and the monster blends into a crowd.

We’re guessing that being pantsless on the plane isn’t a good reason to get the police involved (since he was covered up with underwear) but it’s still strange that absolutely nothing happened.
Of course, since Nanjiani was truly studying the guy, he figured out something pretty clever that makes this story hilarious once again.

So, the moral of the story is, please always wear pants on a flight. In fact, whenever you’re interacting with strangers, you should be wearing some type of appropriate bottom gear — whether it’s pants, shorts, a skirt, a kilt, or some mix of the above, that’s up to you. But don’t push the boundaries like this guy did.
