Comedian John Mulaney and Ex-Wife Share Heartbreaking News

John Mulaney and his former wife Anna Marie Tendler are grieving the loss of their beloved dog, Petunia.

Both Tendler, 37, and the Saturday Night Live veteran, 40, took to their respective Instagram accounts on Friday, April 28, to say their formal goodbyes to the sweet French bulldog they shared.

Mulaney delivered the sad the news to his Instagram followers alongside a throwback photo from Petunia's puppy days, writing, "Petunia, I loved you from the first moment I saw you."

"Rest in peace," he added. "Thank you for being my little shadow."

Tendler posted a similar message to her Instagram page earlier on Friday, penning a mournful message to Petunia, whom she called her "best friend" and "the great love of my life."

"You were the funniest. You were the smartest. You were the weirdest. Everything about you was the best thing," the artist continued of her late furry friend. "To think I will never again hold you, hear you, or see your big, beautiful brown eyes gazing back at me seems unfathomable. Thank you for letting me be your constant companion, and for being mine. I love you with every part me."

"Until we meet again in our next life ❤️" she concluded the emotional post, which featured a slideshow of sweet images with the pup.

Mulaney and Tendler—who tied the knot in 2014— shared Petunia during their time together, with the comedian often gushing about the pet in his stand-up routines.

It's unclear if the former couple decided to share custody of Petunia after announcing their divorce in 2021, though it's clear that they both still had a strong connection to the pooch up until her death.

Since their divorce, Mulaney has since gone on to welcome a child, a now 17-month-old son, Malcom, whom he shares with girlfriend Olivia Munn. According to Page Six, Tendler is also believed to be back in the dating game, and has been rumored to be sparking up a romance with New York City chef Nicholas Tran.
