Jo Koy has been revealed as the host of the 2024 Golden Globes. Set to be shown on CBS Jan. 7, this marks the first time the comedian will head the coveted awards show — or any major one for that matter.

“I’ve stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special. I’m so excited to be hosting the Golden Globes this year,” Koy said in a statement. “This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud. Mahal Kita (Google it)!”

Comedian Jo Koy has been announced the Golden Globes 2024 host.

Mahal Kita translates to “I love you” in Filipino. Throughout his nearly 30-year-long career, Koy’s ventures into the comedic realm have spanned across multiple mediums, including film and books.

The comedian recently starred in Disney’s 2023 film rendition of “Haunted Mansion,” which also starred LaKeith Stanfield and Jared Leto. In 2022, Koy released his own Netflix special titled “Live From the Los Angeles Forum.” In partnership with Harper Collins, Koy debuted his autobiography, “Mixed Plate: Chronicles of an All-American Comb,” in 2021.

“We are thrilled to have Jo host the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards and bring his infectious energy and relatable humor to kick off Hollywood’s award season. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for the stars in the room and a global audience,” Helen Hoehne, the Golden Globes president, said in a statement. “We know Jo is bringing his A-game.”

For the 2023 Golden Globes, fellow comedian Jerrod Carmichael was tapped to host the ceremony for the first time. Other past Golden Globe hosts have included Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers.
