Comedian horrified to find her images in 'weight-loss before' advertisement

Australian comedian Celeste Barber — who is known for parodying images of celebrities on Instagram — has fallen victim to an advertising scam. After being made aware of the incident by a fan, the 36-year-old found images of herself had been used as the “before” photos in an advertisement for diet patches being sold on the website Wish.

The ad contains two photos Barber had previously parodied on her Instagram account. One photo showcases her perched over a bath, trying to mimic a topless model doing the same thing.

The next is a black-and-white image of the comedian lying in bed stroking a man’s chest, mimicking a GQ shoot with supermodel Naomi Campbell and rapper Skepta.

Barber’s parodied photos have been used as the “before” photos, and the celebrity photos have been used as the “after” results, despite clearly showing different people in the images.

Barber called out the online retailer on social media after being made aware of the incident, insisting it should not be using her images to “sell body-shaming products.”
