Chippendales might be a mainstay of bachelorette parties and wild girls’ night outs around the world, but what’s even more entertaining than the super-hot male dancers is honestly the totally chaotic story behind how it all started. And where there’s a good story to tell, you just know there’s going to be a streaming giant swooping in to tell it. Enter: Hulu and its new show Welcome to Chippendales.
The show—which premieres tomorrow (November 22)—has a totally stacked cast with everyone from movie icons to Broadway stars telling the very dramatic (and sometimes deadly) story behind the Chippendales exotic dancing empire. Without further adieu, here’s who you can expect to see gracing your screens when you inevitably binge-watch Welcome to Chippendales. Enjoy!
Kumail Nanjiani
Age: 44
Instagram: @KumailN
About: Hilarious actor/comedian/writer extraordinaire Kumail Nanjiani is one of those people who seems to pop up in everything. He’s had roles in Portlandia, Broad City, Community, and even The X-Files, just to name a few, but you probably know him best from his starring role in Silicon Valley, his hit movie The Big Sick (which he cowrote with his wife about their own life), and Marvel’s The Eternals. On Welcome to Chippendales, he’s leading the cast with his role as Somen “Steve” Banerjee, the founder.
Murray Bartlett
Age: 51
Instagram: @Murray.Bartlett
About: After getting his start in acting back home in Australia, Murray Bartlett has been on a bit of a hot streak recently. Just last year, he starred as Armond in The White Lotus (and cleaned up during awards season for his performance) and now he’s playing Nick De Noia, the choreographer for the Chippendales dancers. You’ll also wanna keep an eye out for him starring in The Last of Us (the HBO series adaptation of the post-apocalyptic video game of the same name) because he’s definitely an actor you won’t wanna miss.
Dan Stevens
Age: 40
Instagram: @ThatDanStevens
About: Is that Matthew Crawley from Downton Abbey? Or the Beast from Beauty and the Beast? Or that Russian singer from Eurovision? The answer is yes, all of the above. IMHO, the British actor is a 10/10 in everything he does, so the fact that he’s on Welcome to Chippendales makes it all the more exciting. He’s playing Canadian nightclub promoter and pimp Paul Snider. He was one of Chippendales founder Somen Banerjee’s business associates but is most infamous for murdering his wife, Playboy model Dorothy Stratten.
Annaleigh Ashford
Age: 37
Instagram: @AnnaleighAshford
About: Annaleigh Ashford started her career on the stage. Out of college, she got a role in the touring company of Wicked, and after that, she became the first person to play Margot in Legally Blonde on Broadway. THEN she went back to Wicked, this time on Broadway and starring as Glinda. So, you get it, she’s really, really good. She’s starred in a bunch of things since then, put out her own music, and even won a Tony. And on Welcome to Chippendales, she plays Irene, the wife of Chippendales founder Somen Banerjee.
Nicola Peltz
Age: 27
Instagram: @NicolaAnnePeltzBeckham
About: The New York–born actor comes from one of the most fascinating families around. Her father is billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and her mother is model Claudia Heffner. Out of her seven siblings, one is actor Will Peltz and another is former pro hockey player Brad Peltz. Oh, and she’s also married to Brooklyn Beckham! She’s starring in Welcome to Chippendales as Playboy model Dorothy Stratten.
Quentin Plair
Age: 34
Instagram: @QuentinPlairJr
About: On Welcome to Chippendales, Quentin Plair plays Otis, one of the dancers for Chippendales, who gives the audience a peek into what it was like to be a Black dancer there. (IRL, Chippendales was hit with multiple racial discrimination lawsuits.) But before this, you’ve probably seen the Connecticut-born actor play Dallas in Roswell, New Mexico. He’s also been cast in Hulu’s upcoming Tiny Beautiful Things, so he’s just getting started!
Juliette Lewis
Age: 49
Instagram: @JulietteLewis
About: Juliette Lewis became an icon in the ’90s and has never lost her touch. She’s starred in movies by major filmmakers like Martin Scorsese and Oliver Stone, and most recently, she appeared in Showtime’s thriller Yellowjackets. On Welcome to Chippendales, she plays Denise, a Chippendales fan who eventually becomes the right-hand woman of choreographer Nick De Noia.
Andrew Rannells
Age: 44
Instagram: @AndrewRannells
About: Girls fans probably recognize Andrew Rannells as Hannah’s friend Elijah, but Broadway fans will know him as an OG Book of Mormon star. Onstage, he’s also been in Hairspray, Jersey Boys, and Hamilton, and on film, he’s had roles in A Simple Favor and Netflix’s The Boys in the Band. He has a recurring role on Welcome to Chippendales as Nick De Noia’s wealthy New York investor.
Robin de Jesús
Age: 38
Instagram: @RobinOfJesus
About: Yet another Broadway star to join the cast (seriously, are you allowed to have this much talent in one show?!), Robin de Jesús has earned multiple Tony nominations for his roles in The Boys in the Band, In the Heights, and La Cage aux Folles. On Welcome to Chippendales, he’s taking on the role of Ray Colon, a handyman at the club who becomes quite close with Somen Banerjee.
