Come join the parade! Rose Festival wants adults and kids to build floats for Junior Parade

(PORTLAND TRIBUNE) — The parades of the Portland Rose Festival all have a long history — including the Junior Parade.

But it needs some help.

Organizers are calling out to the community to build floats for the Fred Meyer Junior Parade, scheduled for 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 5 in the Hollywood District.

Marilyn Clint, Rose Festival CEO, and Nick Brodnicki, new chief operating officer, have put an emphasis on recruiting adults and kids alike to participate in the Junior Parade.

“We want to see more little floats in the Junior Parade,” Clint said. “We didn’t have as many last year.”

In fact, there were only three floats in the Junior Parade in 2023. Clint and Brodnicki would like to see 10. To help community members who want to participate, and perhaps help build a float, the Rose Festival will hold a workshop from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. May 18 at the festival’s float barn on Northeast 87th Ave.
