Columbia's public pools are opening for the season. Here's the schedule
A chance to take a refreshing swim this summer in one of Columbia's public pools is just around the corner.
Columbia Parks and Recreation announced the Albert Oakland Family Aquatic Center, 1900 Blue Ridge Road, opens May 25, while Lake of the Woods Pool, 6700 St. Charles Road, and Douglass Family Aquatic Center, 400 N. Providence Road, both open May 28.
Albert-Oakland's hours are noon to 5 p.m. Saturday through Wednesday, and noon to 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Lake of the Woods noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and noon to 7:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday. Douglass is open noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and noon to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Friday.
Pool schedules are subject to change due to staff availability and schedules are updated online via the City of Columbia website.
All three pools host water fitness classes, swim lessons and lap swimming, due to the temporary closure of the Water Zone at the Activity & Recreation Center (ARC), which starts May 28 through Sept. 3.
The swimming beach at Stephens Lake and spraygrounds at Stephens Lake Park, Flat Branch Park and Douglass Park already are open and will remain open through Sept. 30.
