Summer is almost upon us and Frame’s new capsule collaboration with stylist Julia Sarr-Jamois has your vacation mode capsule wardrobe sorted. The glamorously low-key mix of tie-dye, crochet, camo, and Swarovski crystals is inspired by looks Sarr-Jamois wore while she and her friend Erik Torstensson, a co-founder of Frame, were on holiday in Ibiza last summer.
“Julia’s style caught my eye while we were together on vacation,” Torstensson tells BAZAAR. “She has a laid-back, eclectic look that feels fresh and exciting.”
Crochet items like a string bikini, tank top, and bucket hat, and tie-dye pieces, including a cardigan, oversized PJ set, and fluid basketball shorts, give the pair's resulting collection a handmade, artisanal feel. High-rise utility trousers feature Sarr-Jamois’s favorite print, camo.
“I love to embrace summer color and a relaxed, playful aesthetic,” Sarr-Jamois says. “My favorite part of the design process was playing with colorful crochets and prints, referencing my own vintage pieces, as well as incorporating the little details like the JSJ embroidery and patchwork detailing.”
Denim, of course, features prominently. One heavily distressed pair of baggy, low-rise jeans comes with crocheted details at the waist and pockets. Another slouchy, straight-leg pair is adorned with more than 50,000 iridescent chocolate brown Swarovski crystals.
“The Swarovski jeans are my favorite piece,” Sarr-Jamois elaborates. “When Erik and I started brainstorming, my first idea was to incorporate Swarovski crystals. Pairing them with denim felt like an exciting juxtaposition; something so luxury but with an effortless low slung silhouette.”
If you should find yourself in Ibiza, Torstensson has a few recs for places where a good time is guaranteed. “Some of my favorite spots to eat and play are LA Paloma, Ses Boques, Casa Jondal, Es Xarco, Can Carlitos. Circoloco at DC10 on Mondays,” says Torstensson. You can always find the party on “a boat Erik is on,” adds Sarr-Jamois.
