Colorado Ski Area Claims They Recently Took A "Big Step" Towards Opening Day

Arapahoe Basin, Colorado, announced today, October 25th, that they took "another big step in the right direction" last night.

The cryptic-sounding caption was followed by a photo of A-Basin's snowmaking apparatus hard at work. By "big step," they were apparently referring to making significant progress toward fully coating their opening-day runs with man-made snow.

A-Basin shared additional photos of its snowmaking efforts via a link to Al's Blog -- a blog run by the resort's COO, Al Henceroth.

The Coloradan resort also shared a video of sun guns firing today.

Unsurprisingly, both posts sent the rumor mills spinning, with skiers speculating -- in some cases begging -- that A-Basin would open for skiing and riding this weekend.

While A-Basin didn't shut the excitement down, they wrote a comment below the Instagram post to temper expectations:

"Just gonna get ahead of the comments here: we will open ASAP! No opening date yet. Hopefully soon."

At this point, all A-Basin needs is a consistent stretch of cold temperatures -- once that arrives, they should be good to fire up the lifts.

So, for now, you know the drill: keep the snow dances coming, think snow, and, perhaps most importantly, be patient. The ski season is on the way.
