Colorado Ski Resort Known For Opening Early Starts Snowmaking

Today and yesterday, Keystone Resort, Colorado, benefitted from a statewide storm that deposited snow at multiple ski resorts throughout the region.

While cause for celebration, this early-season storm wasn't just a wintry tease for Keystone; it was also an occasion for the resort to fire up one of its essential tools: snowguns.

The drop in temperature last night allowed Keystone to begin snowmaking.

From the caption:

"Mother nature wasn't the only one putting in work last night. Snowmaking season has officially started! Our teams fired up our equipment at 7 pm last night and, thanks to sustained cold temperatures ahead, we're planning to make snow throughout the day and into the weekend!"

While the resort hasn't specified a planned opening date yet, it is known to open in October, alongside other Coloradan ski areas like Arapahoe Basin and Loveland Ski Area. In an August 16th X post, Keystone wrote, "We are planning to open as early as possible in October."

In the comments section of an Instagram post sharing the beginning of snowmaking efforts at Keystone this fall, a user placed bets on a prospective opening date for the Coloradan resort, writing: "November 3rd opening day calling it now." To which Keystone replied: "Hopefully sooner!"

Folks, it is happening. I hope those skis are waxed because winter is coming in hot.
