Colorado Resort Captures Rare Snow Rainbow

Have you ever seen a rainbow after a snowstorm?

A summer storm passed though Breckenridge Ski Resort, Colorado on Saturday, August 12th and deposited a light dusting of snow on the area's highest peaks.

Light snow accumulation at 12,000+ feet isn't necessarily rare in Colorado during the summer, but a snow rainbow? That's worth talking about. Check out the images below:

Breckenridge Ski Resort: "Do you see what we see? Yesterday evening’s storm brought Peak 6 a little dust on crust (and by crust we mean rock)!"

I'll admit that the pics would have been better if the rainbow stretched over the snowfall on Breck's Peak 6, but beggars can't be choosers.

I only wish that I was strutting around Breckenridge this past weekend to see the snow and colorful display for myself.

Breckenridge has not set an opening day for this season yet, but skiers should expect the mountain to be open by mid-November, conditions and weather permitting.

For those keeping score at home, we're only about 3 months away from ski resorts in Colorado opening! Start making plans, wax up the skis, make sure your boots still fit, and pray for snow. Winter will be here before we know it.
