We may be just a few weeks into the year, but Colman Domingo is already making waves.

Securing his first Oscar nomination for portraying Bayard Rustin in Rustin, Domingo is already eyeing his next project... and he won't just be starring in it.

In an episode of the Variety Awards Circuit Podcast, Domingo revealed that he had been quietly working on a Nat King Cole biopic, which he plans to direct and star in.

The film will be Domingo's directorial debut, and he told the podcast, "It's something I'm looking forward to putting together with some great partners."

Rustin wasn't Domingo's only film to release last year. He also starred in The Color Purple alongside Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson and the now Oscar-nominated Danielle Brooks. He also had a film premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Sing Sing, which followed an incarcerated theater group that escape their reality through staging a play. Domingo starred alongside a cast which included formerly incarcerated actors.

Further details on the Nat King Cole biopic are to be announced.
