College student stuns TikTok with video of his ‘insane’ dorm room renovation

Even if you don’t remember the Drake & Josh bedroom, this thing is still pretty impressive.
A college student is going viral on TikTok after revealing the “insane” way he renovated his standard-looking dorm room. The clip, posted by an 18-year-old user named Colby Guenther, has thousands of viewers shocked and impressed.
As Guenther explains in his original video of the room, it was inspired by the bedroom in the classic Nickelodeon series Drake & Josh, in which Drake Bell and Josh Peck played two stepbrothers with a very cool sleeping setup.
Guenther and his roommate managed to copy much of that magic right inside their dorm. The result? An elevated, multi-bed platform filled with creative storage space underneath.
In his video, Guenther explains how he lifted his bed with a large wooden platform. Thanks to that decision, he and his roommate now have tons of extra storage room for snacks, a shoe rack, a mini-fridge and more.
The raised sleeping structure adds plenty of space to an area that traditionally is too small to fit much more than a few pieces of furniture. According to MVOrganizing.org, the average freshman dorm measures just 12 by 19 feet, or 228 square feet of space.
After getting countless questions about how he pulled off this design, Guenther posted a follow-up video. In it, he showed how his room looked before he added the platform beds.
TikTok users had plenty of praiseworthy comments for Guenther. Some called it “insane” or “genius.”
“How did y’all manage to do this?” one user asked.
“This is so fire,” another added.
“100% an engineering major,” another wrote.
