College student documents herself pursuing her first female crush: 'I must be gay, right? I like her, I think'

First crushes are really something else. Even if ours happened back in kindergarten, we can likely still remember the first person we daydreamed about marrying all those years ago. But for one college design student on TikTok, her first crush is still very clear in her mind for a different reason.

According to Emily (@wayn3sw0r1d), she’s known for a while that she’s bisexual, but for one reason or another, she’s always pictured her life with a man. Part of that, she says, is because she’s been slightly intimidated about entering the “whole new world” of female relationships and wasn’t quite sure how to navigate one.

But recently, Emily realized she might have to jump into the deep end and figure it out after all, because she’s started to fall pretty hard for one of her female friends.

In her now-viral TikTok, Emily explains that it all happened kind of suddenly. The two have a class together and started spending more and more one-on-one time outside of it. In fact, their favorite thing to do is head to Starbucks after class and order chai lattes while chatting.

One day, Emily suggested they start making the lattes themselves, considering how easy they are to make and how pricey they are to buy. Her crush thought that was a great idea but had a problem: She lives in a dorm and doesn’t actually own a proper cup to make one in.

Without even thinking, Emily went out and bought her one. Then she decided to give it a personal touch.

“In this class that we have together, she told a story about dandelions and the first time she had a crush on a girl,” Emily recalled.

After purchasing the tumbler, Emily painted a bunch of dandelions around the cup in various forms of life. She also bought her crush the chai latte mix and oat milk that the recipe calls for, along with a sponge and some dish soap to wash the cup out at the end of each day.

“I must be gay, right? I like her, I think,” Emily said at the end of the clip. “How do I present this to her?”

After doing all of this, it finally hit her.

“I don’t know how to date women, I don’t know how to flirt with a woman,” she confessed. “Like how do you … I need help!”

Soon after posting the video, Emily watched it go viral and received way more advice and reassurance than she probably bargained for.

“‘I don’t know how to date women. I don’t know how to flirt with women’ AND YET you’re doing it perfectly,” one person told her.

“Soon as you start giving gifts y’all locked in,” another confirmed.

Others complimented her on how “sweet” and “thoughtful” her gift was, while at least one person said they were “invested and giddy” over her love story and demanded updates ASAP.

Luckily, it didn’t take long for those updates to come rolling in.

Within days, it was clear that Emily and her mystery crush were an item — and in one video, she even makes an appearance!

According to Emily, her crush’s name is Sam and she is now officially her girlfriend.

The two have also appeared on camera together to mark their “first official date.”

Soon after that came an update from a concert the couple attended together.

“Lessons from week 1 of my first wlw relationship,” the video text reads, before listing several eye-opening revelations the TikToker has made. They include things like “Kisses can simply be kisses”; “Most people will assume we are friends”; and “Love is what you deserve!”

In the days since coming out and declaring herself very much “in like” with her friend, things have changed quite a bit for Emily.
