Cole Sprouse Responded to the News Selena Gomez Had a Crush on Him With the Most Cole Comment

From ELLE

Selena Gomez visited her old middle school earlier this week, and the trip down memory lane inspired her to tell her millions of Instagram followers that back when she was a kid, she had a very serious crush on fellow Disney Channel star Cole Sprouse. "Apparently my heart was very conflicted between Juan and Cole Sprouse when I was 11," she captioned the photo of her writing "Selena + Juan" and "Selena Belongs w/ Cole Sprouse 4-Ever!!!"

Sprouse was alerted to this news and responded personally and publicly to Gomez in a very Cole Sprouse way. He left her a punny comment: "always Juan-upping me," he quipped. Gomez has not replied back yet.

Don't expect anything romantic to come out of this: it's been over a decade, and Sprouse is dating his Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart. After reports circulated that the two took a break earlier this summer, Reinhart made their current relationship status crystal-clear in an interview she did with Coveteur that was released this week.

The interviewer mentioned that Reinhart is good at special effects makeup (she is!) and asked what she was doing for Halloween. That's when she called Sprouse her boyfriend. “I am! Oh my god, I haven’t done that in a really long time, actually," she started. "I kind of went from special-effects makeup to face painting. So I’ve done a lot in the past. Now I don’t really have the time, which sounds so stupid, but I really don’t. It takes a lot of time to do those things. I think I’m leaning in towards a character for Halloween. I think I’m going to do it with my boyfriend, Cole. I don’t want to spoil it if it’s not going to happen, but it’s a TV duo.”

Gomez, meanwhile, is single. She is not dating anyone, a source told E! in July, but is "open to start putting herself out there again. She is taking everything day by day and focusing on herself and her music." Noah Centineo, go ahead and shoot your shot.
