Cole Sprouse Finally Addresses the Lili Reinhart Breakup Rumors

Cole Sprouse spent two weeks trolling everyone over tabloid reports that he and Lili Reinhart broke up, without directly clarifying their current relationship status. Entertainment Tonight did a red carpet interview with him at Variety's Power of Young Hollywood issue party, where he addressed more seriously how he felt about the rumors. Finally.

He was asked whether he was annoyed by the reports, and he at first said jokingly, "Incredibly." Then he got more real: "No, I don't care. That's the nature of our industry. I think you have to poke fun of it a little bit. It's kind of something you sign up for, but as long as can keep it light and fun, it's all good."

He also addressed whether he plans to write his own love poem for Reinhart for her birthday in September, since she posted one on Instagram for his birthday this weekend. "I'm not a poet. I do not write. I'll figure out something beautiful," he said.

For his 2018 birthday tribute to her, Sprouse shared a topless photo of her with the caption, "Both the birthday and the gift. My little muse, happy birthday my love." His Riverdale co-stars KJ Apa and Casey Cott trolled him and made a parody of the post.

Sprouse explained to W in the magazine's cover story on the two that he has a reason for keeping their relationship as private as it is. “Until you go through the paces and the dating stages and know that something is right for you, I don’t think it’s appropriate to bring others in,” he said. He acknowledged that he understands how their off-screen relationship adds extra intrigue to their being together on Riverdale as Betty and Jughead. “I think part of the fun that the audience had, and still has, is going: What’s up with them right now? It’s interesting! But in all honesty, my own happiness and her happiness come before caring about what people are saying.”
