Cole Sprouse Explains Betty and Jughead's Teamwork on "Riverdale"

They're simply better together.

Riverdale fans were pretty excited this past week when (spoiler alert!) Betty and Jughead teamed up to casually dispose of a dead body together. And viewers weren't the only ones rooting for the on-screen couple; Lili Reinhart referred to Cole Sprouse's character on Twitter as "boyfriend of the year." (Cue the necessary fan freakout.)

It seems as though Cole would agree that Betty and Jughead make a pretty good pair; in an interview with TVGuide, the actor posited that "when they work together, they work best." He explained that this is because they "are...both dealing with issues that they tried to tackle independently," meaning, they understand where the other one is coming from.

As for the "reunion" that many fans are hoping for, Cole didn't give anything away — but he hinted that viewers will likely be pleased with the outcome. "I don’t think there’s been a formal declaration in words as to whether they are reunited, but they’re certainly acknowledging the fact that they can’t stay away from each other," he said.

It gets even better; according to Cole, the upcoming chapters will definitely make Bughead fans happy. "I think these next two episodes are really establishing that they need each other’s assistance," he explained. Bottom line? If we thought we were excited for this week before, now that excitement just took on a whole new level.
