Cody Simpson wishes happy birthday to girlfriend Miley Cyrus: 'Thanks for being you'

Miley Cyrus turned 27 on Saturday and her boyfriend Cody Simpson celebrated by writing, “Thanks for being you” on Instagram.

The Australian musician, who has been dating Cyrus since October, posted a black-and-white Instagram video of the two giggling while Simpson lip-syncs a song with the lyrics, “I felt love.”

Simpson shared with Us Weekly among other outlets, how him and the “Mother’s Daughter” singer got together saying, “We’ve been friends for so long that when we sort of found each other again in a space where … We both met back in the day when we were partying a lot. We had a lot of fun then … but now we’ve found each other in a space where we’re not partying, working real hard and just like [to] keep things healthy.”

The 22-year-old added that a foundation of friendship makes their relationship easy. “Any girlfriend that I’ve had in the past has always been immediate romance, and so it’s kind of like a different experience having been friends with somebody before and developing that into something more,” he said. “It’s just like a very natural, healthy feeling.”

On Saturday, Simpson also shared a cute selfie of the two on his Instagram Stories writing, “B’day angel.”

The pair is rumored to have celebrated Cyrus’s birthday in Tennessee where Cyrus purchased a home in 2017 and is recuperating from vocal cord surgery. As reported by People, a fan photo on Saturday depicted the couple at a restaurant in Nashville.

As for Cyrus, she spent Saturday sharing fan tributes and childhood photos on her own Instagram Stories. And her family posted their birthday blessings. “Happy birthday, Miley Cyrus!!! Love you so much,” wrote dad Billy Ray Cyrus.

“Happy birthday sissy!!! love you SO MUCH,” wrote little sister Noah Cyrus alongside an Instagram clip of the pair doing a synchronized dance to a Bob Marley song.
