It’s the year of Coco Jones, and it's only just begun.

The 26-year-old singer and actor blazed into stardom in 2023 with her EP, What I Didn't Tell You, which garnered her five Grammy nominations including Best R&B Album and Best New Artist, while also starring as Hilary Banks in Peacock’s Bel Air, which got renewed for a third season last spring. But Jones has been working for this moment her whole life, first as a child star on the Disney Channel, then through several years of working to establish her adult career as a musician and actor.

So, ahead of Sunday’s Grammy Awards, she tells Glamour she’s trying to live in the moment and enjoy where all her hard work has gotten her.

“I'm excited to have a great look, to feel beautiful, to have my family there, my mom and brother and sister,” she says. “I'm excited for my team to celebrate the nomination, and I'm pretty much leaving the rest of my possible what-ifs for the day.”

She’ll be in good company. This year’s Grammys is set to be dominated by women, something that Jones says has been a long time coming.

“I think in general the world has evolved so much that we see a lot more opportunity for women in general,” she says. “I'm excited about the women of color that are really getting their shine and getting the platform to just be great and be what we've always been: super talented and passionate.”

Ahead, Coco Jones drops some hints about her ’fit for the big day, plus her must-have buys for the studio and her biggest recent splurge.

The inspiration for my Grammys red-carpet look

Whenever I'm thinking about a big event, I always go back in time to see things that have inspired me. So I was inspired a lot by ’90s R&B and the greats of that time and just the moments that they made…Destiny’s Child had a lot of individual style; of course, they had Beyonce's mom, Tina, doing all of the creative for most of their outfits. So I kind of wanted to take my own moment, something that hasn't been made already.

My favorite ’90s trend that’s come back

I think one of the pinnacle fashion moments from that era was the cropped tops. I personally have always loved crop anything…. There were a lot of toned, cropped moments that just served the look…. I feel like the crop tops really ran the ’90s.

How I will be celebrating Grammys night

I’m having a huge party with Grey Goose, my friends, family…. They always have such fun celebrations…. They know that I love refreshing drinks, so from what I was hearing, there is a “Cool as Coco” cocktail made with Grey Goose vodka, St-Germain liqueur, grenadine, lemon juice, and club soda, and garnished with cucumber wheels.

My must-have beauty product for the red carpet

Chapstick would be my go-to, because I do a lot of press, I do a lot of interviews, a lot of talking, and a chapstick that also could be a gloss, a two in one, is going to be a lifesaver. By the time I get off the carpet, I'm probably going to need a touch-up…. My favorite is the L'Oréal lip balm and gloss.

My favorite way to relax in cozy season

I love tea…English breakfast tea with cream and sugar. I learned that in Europe.

The thing I tell all my friends to buy

I got this multipurpose dicer for Christmas. Gosh, this is so random, but literally I'll be like, “Y'all, I put this cucumber in there, boom, chopped, perfectly squared. I put this carrot, sliced it thin.” I just love stuff like that.

My favorite snack in the studio

When I'm not on a health kick, my favorite food is definitely Lay's chips, the original flavor. I saw this one interview where Whitney Houston was saying that it helps her sing better, and ever since then I was like, All right, this is my favorite snack as well…. From what she said, it was the oil in the chip that coats your throat. So maybe it is mental, but I feel like it kind of works for me too.

A self-care trend I’m all in on

Bubble baths. I love Epsom salt; it is really relaxing and calming.

The biggest splurge I made recently

A shopping spree in Paris for my birthday. I love Chanel. Coco Chanel. How could I not?

The item of clothing in my closet that I wear the most

Realistically it would be my leggings, my Alo yoga leggings, because, honestly, I'm traveling half the time and I'm going to travel comfy.
