It’s the restaurant takeover we didn’t know we needed.

There are some foods that just taste better if you’re having them with a Coke. At the movies, there’s no duo more iconic than popcorn and Coke. If you’re heading to McDonald’s, you know you need that fountain soda because it truly does taste better there. And if you’re grabbing a slice of pizza, there’s a solid chance you’re washing it down with a soda. The only thing better than a slice of pizza is getting that slice for free.

If you’ve got an empty plastic beverage bottle and happen to live in one of a few select cities, you’ll have the opportunity to grab a free slice in the next few weeks.

How to Get Free Pizza from Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola is teaming up with local pizzerias across the U.S., to launch a traveling restaurant takeover series called Toss In, Take Out. And instead of taking money for the pizza, the restaurants will instead accept recycled plastic bottles.

The only kicker is that the takeover is scheduled in just three cities: New York City, Atlanta, and Chicago.

On Oct. 24, New Yorkers can head to Bleeker Street Pizza. Then on Nov. 2, folks in Atlanta will be able to get their free slice at Goodfellas Pizza & Wings. Finally, on Nov. 7, Chicagoans can hit up Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria for the deal.

Bleecker Street Pizza (69 7th Ave S, New York, NY 10014), Tuesday, Oct. 24, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Goodfellas (365 14th St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30318), Thursday, Nov. 2, 12-8 p.m.
Lou Malnati's (1235 W Randolph St., Chicago, IL, 60637), Tuesday, Nov. 7, 12-8 p.m.

Bring in any empty plastic beverage bottle to recycle—even bottles for non-Coke products—and get a select pizza item and a 20-ounce Coke product in return.

This whole setup is a part of the celebration of Coca-Cola’s expansion of the availability of its 100-percent-recycled (excluding the label and cap), 20-ounce plastic bottles. The bottles are now rolling out in markets across Chicago, Atlanta, and the Pacific Northwest. The bottles first launched in 2021 in California, New York, and Texas.

Kurt Ritter, Vice President and General Manager of Sustainability at The Coca-Cola Company North America, said, “The expanded availability of Coca-Cola Trademark products in 100% recycled plastic bottles advances our ambitions to reduce virgin plastic...Our ability to use 100% recycled plastic is a direct result of consumers’ sustained commitment to recycling. In the future, we plan to bring this design innovation to more brands and markets.”

If Coke isn’t heading to a city near you, perhaps you can take the opportunity to visit your favorite local pizza joint, or skip takeout and have pizza night at home
