It really seems like Cobra Kai will never die. No, seriously—new seasons of the Netflix show just keep on coming! (And they might be for a while, too!)

We knew that the sequel series to the hit '80s movie The Karate Kid would return for a fifth season—and now we finally have a premiere date. This is huge news for the show's biggest fans, like Ree Drummond, who quickly fell in love with Cobra Kai's quirky humor, star-studded cast, and unpredictable plot. (All the appearances by one of Ree's celeb crushes, William Zabka, didn't hurt, either!)

We now know a little more about what to expect from season 5 after Netflix released the official trailer, and, oh, our minds are racing! Keep reading to find out what's in store.

When will Cobra Kai season 5 be released?

It's official, everyone: Cobra Kai season 5 is set to be released on September 9, 2022! Netflix confirmed the tune-in timing in an exciting date announcement in May. In just a few short weeks, we will return to living vicariously through the on-screen adventures of our favorite Cobra Kai characters.

The new trailer left us with so many questions.

Just one look at this trailer, and we already know we need to buckle up for season 5. Between Danny and Johnny butting heads once again, Terry Silver becoming even more of a villain (who knew that was possible?!), and lots and lots of battles in and out of the dojo, we're gearing up for the exhilarating ride ahead.

But there was one person notably missing from the trailer. Ahead of Cobra Kai's premiere, Netflix recently released new press photos, including one of the iconic Karate Kid III villain Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan), dressed and ready to fight. News of Mike's return shocked and excited longtime fans of the franchise. But Mike was absent from the trailer—adding to our already heightened suspense. We don't know the role "Karate's Bad Boy" will play in Cobra Kai, but we're more excited than ever to find out.

Is the full Cobra Kai cast coming back?

From what we can see, yes! Daniel, Johnny, Miguel, Samantha, and Robby are integral parts of the ongoing story, and it would be tough to imagine Cobra Kai without them. Thankfully, Netflix agrees with us, and our favorite characters will be returning to our screens in September. 🙌

What will season 5 of Cobra Kai be about?

In a rivalry that feels like it was dug up from our wildest dreams, the iconic villains from the films The Karate Kid Part II and The Karate Kid Part III (Terry Silver and Chozen Toguchi) will face off in a heated encounter. This is followed by Johnny and Robby taking a road trip to Mexico to look for Miguel as he continues his own search for his father. Some unlikely alliances are formed, with Daniel and Chozen teaming up to put a stop to Terry's plans as he tries to open up a Cobra Kai dojo on essentially every corner in California.

This trailer has no doubt sparked tons of fan theories, so feel free to kick off that discussion in our comments!

Will season 5 of Cobra Kai be the last one?

It doesn't seem that way! Jon Hurwitz, co-creator of Cobra Kai, recently answered a question from a fan on Twitter (a burning question we all had, may we add), and we were pleasantly surprised with the answer.

"Are you close to the end on Cobra Kai?" A fan asked on twitter. "Or can we expect many more years after this season?"

"All I can say is that we expect more Cobra Kai to come and that the Miyagiverse is far from finished," Hurwitz responded.

Woah. Not only is this exciting news, but it's vague enough to leave a lot to the imagination. How many more seasons will it actually run for then? Will it stop there—or will there be spinoffs? Though we don't know the answer to these yet, we're just happy to be a part of the ride.

We told you—Cobra Kai never, ever dies! 🐍
