So, San Diego Comic-Con 2022 was this past weekend, and — I'm sure I don't have to tell you, but I will anyway — Marvel Studios had some pretty darn exciting announcements during their Saturday night Hall H panel!

They announced an incredible collection of new TV shows and movies for the end of Phase 4 and the highly anticipated Phase 5...

But one of the projects that stood out as being an intriguing venture was definitely Disney+'s upcoming Secret Invasion, which sees many of Marvel's most beloved characters taking on a Skrull invasion.

And BuzzFeed caught up with series star Cobie Smulders fresh off of exiting Hall H, where she shared a little bit about what it felt like to return to the splendor of Comic-Con's biggest Hall after all this time:

"I think I forget what an impact that Marvel has made, and not only on people and the excitement of the crowd ... but the [Marvel Cinematic Universe] has just become so large and inclusive and diversified, and it's just been really exciting to get a front row seat to that type of evolution."

"It has been just so cool and it's like, I'm not sure if it's just me and my personality to be like, 'Oh, it's no big deal, it's a gig, it's fun' ... but then you come to something like this and you're like, 'This is so cool!' And I think I forget about that because I just normalize it ... but you come here and you see the impact it makes on people and the love that they have for it — plus the bringing together of such great, talented people — it's just really fun."

"Right before I went on, I was watching Kevin [Feige] and ... I said, 'Look at this world you guys have made!' It's so exciting."

Cobie then went on to talk about Secret Invasion and the incredible front row seat her character, Agent Maria Hill, has had to the many, many happenings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the years:

"She's been through the runner ... I really do think this show is a culmination of all the work that she has done, and I think the great thing about Marvel branching off into these series is that you get to see these characters in a different way and you get to spend more time with them."

"You get to see the dynamic, you get to see the working relationship of [Nick] Fury and Hill, like, what is that? What do they do when they're waiting for a clue to come in, you know? What is the safe house like? What's the water cooler talk like? So it's an opportunity to showcase that," she said. "And I think for her especially, she's just been holding down the fort since [Fury] has been gone, and a lot of stuff's been coming to a head."

"And I also think that the Skrull invasion, and the magnitude of it, really pulled the rug out from under her. She's like 'I'm doing it, I'm getting the bad guys...but now I don't know who the bad guy is. It's so hard to differentiate."

Cobie finished by touching briefly on the overall tone of the series, stating, "This show is certainly one of the darkest projects that Marvel has done, and I do think it's a big departure. Especially since we get to see Fury, like, really his age. He's not in his leather jacket, you know? We see him as a man and what that life is like."

Plus, the show's cast is stacked, including the likes of Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ben Mendelsohn, and, of course, Samuel L. Jackson!
