A 39-year-old Coachella man has been arrested for the murder of two women who were shot in Moreno Valley Friday night, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said Sunday.

Salvador Velasquez was arrested at his home in Coachella on Saturday, according to a press release. He was booked into jail in Indio Monday but had not been formally charged.

Velasquez was arrested following an investigation into the deaths of two women who were reported shot in the area of Eucalyptus Avenue and Old Highway 215 on the west side of Moreno Valley. Deputies later found the women, who had both been shot, inside a vehicle. Both women later died at a hospital.

The Sheriff's Department had not identified the women as of Monday morning because they were still working to notify their next-of-kin of their deaths, the release said.
