CND Brings Mob Wife Nails To Christian Cowan's FW24 Runaway Show

Big bold glamour was in at Christian Cowan's New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2024 show and to accompany the big bouffant hairstyles and stylistic ode to the mob wife aesthetic were long, bold and gemmed nails. The designer collaborated with celebrity manicurist and educator Julie Kandalec to create the nails for the show.

From long blacked out manicures with silver star embellishments to red sparkly jelly nails, Kandalec and Cowan hoped to create a seamless blend between the garments and the beauty direction, "I think nails are the most essential part of an outfit to make you feel polished and finished," Cowan said in a press release.

As for the final product that graced the runway, the team chose five looks in their signature shades with '90s inspired detailing. To create the mob wife inspired nails Kandelac and team begin with using CND's P.R.E.P. kit to prepare the nails for painting and art. They then applied a layer of CND Plexigel Bonder and then cured the nail in a CND LED lamp using preset button 1. Next, they used CND Future Forms with CND Plexigel builder to create medium to long square-tipped nail shapes. Lastly, they cleaned with 99% IPA alcohol and shaped and refine the nail using a 180-grit nail file and buffer.

The team finished the design by applying a drop of CND SolarOil to moisturize the cuticles, all of these products can be purchased on the brand's website.
