Luxury hotel group Kerzner International is gearing up for a wellness-filled year.

In January, the group will open its One&Only One Za’abeel in Dubai, with a Clinique La Prairie longevity hub to follow in March. Furthermore, Kerzner has partnered with Guerlain on a spa at the One&Only Aesthesis in Athens, Greece, and it will be introducing a new fitness, recovery and wellness hotel called Siro in Za’abeel in February. The new concept will be housed in the larger landmark building One Za’abeel, also home to the One&Only One Za’abeel resort.

“[At] Kernzer, wellness is nothing new,” said Philippe Zuber, chief executive officer of Kerzner International. “Well-being is totally part of the experiences, equally important as food and beverage, equally important as activities.”

According to Zuber, each property is built around the spa, as they start by establishing the unique wellness approach. With wellness at the forefront of the group’s business, the team has had its eye on key trends, most notably science-backed treatments, leading to the partnership with Clinique La Prairie.

“Wellness has become the trillion-dollar business that everybody’s talking about, so we have naturally evolved,” Zuber said. “A science-based approach [is] something that as a hospitality company, we don’t have the expertise, so we need to associate ourself with a leading company.”

The One&Only One Za’abeel Clinique La Prairie longevity hub will feature three floors and 29 treatment rooms offering services focused on longevity, well-being and aesthetics. Services include cryotherapy, infrared, IV drips, Botox and more. Furthermore, the spa will offer a slew of customized services for detoxifcation, including Turkish baths, an underwater hydro jet massage and an anti-pollution facial. The location will not include full medical services like the Montreux, Switzerland, flagship.

As this is the first Clinique La Prairie location in the United Arab Emirates, it marks a larger expansion for the Swiss longevity brand — it opened a holistic health boutique at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, earlier this year and maintains other longevity hubs in Madrid, Bangkok, Doha and Taipei.

For One&Only, One Za’abeel is the 15th location and Zuber said they will cap the expansion at 35 locations. Ten more properties have already been signed for. While One&Only has partnered with Clinique La Prairie and Guerlain to expand its spa offerings, Kerzner Group overall has recognized a growing opportunity for wellness hospitality, leading to its new concept Siro.

Siro, which will open in the One Za’abeel in February, will be centered around five pillars of biohacking: sleep, nutrition, mindfulness, recovery and fitness. To convey this, the hotel has been designed with features like thermoregulated mattresses to promote restful sleep; a fitness lab featuring group workout classes; a recovery lab offering sports massages, IV drips, cryotherapy and cupping, and a menu centered around superfoods.

“Our vision is [to] live without compromise, meaning you don’t compromise your fitness journey,” said Zuber.

With Siro, Zuber expects to reach new audiences.

“We will be able to talk to a younger audience,” he said. “We’re very excited to go within urban cities. Technically today we [are] very much [in] resort destinations and Siro will open for us city centers.”

With this in mind, the hotel group plans to expand the concept, first with a Montenegro location which will open in late 2024. As Kerzner plans for expansion overall, the United States will be a key area for growth, according to Zuber.
