African Grey Parrots are often considered one of the most intelligent bird species and are popular as pets due to their impressive mimicry and problem-solving skills.

Apollo knows his words, alright!

He even knows the names of his fellow birds, such as Soleil.

To which he replies, "Oh."

This is too cute!

Obviously, as with training any animal, treats as a reward come in handy. In this case, Apollo's reward is pistachios, which parrots love.

It's also important to incorporate repetition and patience, as these are essential for success.

As you can see, African Grey Parrots are renowned for their ability to mimic human speech. They have a highly developed vocal apparatus that allows them to accurately reproduce a wide range of sounds, including words and phrases.

This ability is not limited to simple mimicry but also involves comprehension and context-appropriate use of words.

That being said, they often associate words with specific actions, objects, or emotions. For example, they may say "hello" when they see a person or "goodbye" when someone leaves.

I wouldn't be surprised if you could have a full-blown conversation with Apollo as if he were a human.

These parrots can develop a vast vocabulary of words and phrases, sometimes numbering in the hundreds. They can also imitate the sounds of other birds, animals, and even household noises.

Beyond speech, African Grey Parrots are excellent at problem-solving. They can learn to follow commands and perform tasks, as shown in the video. For example, they can be taught to retrieve objects, solve puzzles, or even perform tricks.

These parrots are highly social birds and thrive on interaction with their human owners. They tend to learn and mimic more when they are regularly engaged and communicated with.

So if you're lonely, maybe get yourself a parrot.
