Clever Dog Makes Sushi with Mom Like the Perfect Little Sous Chef

While it may be true that every dog owner feels like their furry friend is one in a million, the good news is that none of them are wrong. Every pup has their own special looks, behaviors, and quirks that make them unique, and there's always something to appreciate about every dog you meet.

Maybe a shelter dog's resilience helps them stand out, or maybe the pup's emotional intuition helps them comfort strangers as a therapy dog. There are so many ways an animal can be special, and for Promise the Australian Shepherd, it's the eager way she helps her mom with just about any task.

On February 18, Promise helped her mom, Mary, whip up a batch of sushi rolls made just for dogs. Not only is her recipe a genius idea, but the way she helps cook is so impressive!

OMG! This Australian Shepherd pup is practically a sous chef! Promise was involved in every step of the process, from grocery shopping to rolling the sushi, and she couldn't have been cuter. Even though she was so excited to help Mary make this rice-based snack for dogs, she followed directions so well (or at least appeared to do so on camera).

I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one who was impressed with her sushi skills. While one viewer guessed, "This dog was a cook in their previous life," another mentioned, "This [video] feels like a Pixar short." It's simply perfect! Between the dog-friendly recipe and the ways Promise acts just like a person in the kitchen, there's so much in this video to love.

Commenter @allaroundentertainment4u admitted, or hopefully joked, "This dog helps more than my spouse." Oh no! I'm lucky to say that I can't relate, but I'd still make him wait to be on dishes duty if I had a helper in the kitchen like this skillful Aussie.

Finding Dog-Friendly Recipes

As Mary mentioned in the video's description, Promise's sushi may not have technically been sushi. Her sushi roll consisted of plain seaweed, plain white rice (no vinegar, as traditional sushi has), and a few fillings that are safe for dogs. This hungry pup used a few dog-friendly veggies and freeze-dried salmon, but you can switch these ingredients up for just about anything your dog likes to eat.

As this Australian Shepherd proves, a few creative tweaks to a recipe for people's food can turn it into a dog-safe concoction, though you can always build your dog's snack from any combination of ingredients that are safe for dogs to eat. Happy cooking!
