The Cleveland Cavaliers Suit Up in Coordinated Thom Browne Looks

The fashion-savvy athletes wore tonal suits for their pre-game look against the Indiana Pacers.

The team that plays together, dresses together. Such is the case for the Cleveland Cavaliers—featuring all-star players LeBron James, J.R. Smith, Jeff Green, Tristan Thompson, and more—who sported a united style front for its NBA playoffs game against the Indiana Pacers last night, held in Indianapolis. (It was Game 3 of the playoffs, and the Pacers won, in case you were wondering.) The fashion-savvy athletes wore matching ensembles by Thom Browne for their pre-game entrance, opting for the New York-based designer’s signature cropped gray suits as well as his sleek ties, shoes, bags, and eyewear. Arena hallways are the new runway.

The tonal looks, which were coordinated right down to the matching cardigans and ties, was a fashion moment spearheaded by James, who told The New York Times, “All of us suiting up together was just a new idea and something we all wanted to try.” Of course, a suited-and-booted crew of dapper athletes is nothing new. Some of the sports world’s most recognized players also happen to be the most stylish—think David Beckham, who continues to collaborate with fashion brands, or fellow NBA players such as Stephen Curry. Yet, judging by the Cleveland Cavaliers’ latest style effort—and it was certainly an unexpected one at that—they may just be the menswear scene’s freshest new canvas.
